The Food and Beverages Ontology is a Web vocabulary for describings foods, beverages, and related products or services, e.g. for annotating menu cards or other food or beverages-related services.
The vocabulary is designed to be used in combination with GoodRelations, a standard vocabulary for the commercial aspects of offers for sale, rental, repair, or disposal. GoodRelations is a language (also known as "schema", "data dictionary", or "ontology") for product, price, and company data that can (1) be embedded into existing static and dynamic Web pages and that (2) can be processed by other computers. This increases the visibility of your products and services in the latest generation of search engines, recommender systems, and other novel applications.

Unfortunately, schema.org in Microdata does not support extension modules very well, so in general, the best way to use this extension with GoodRelations elements is in RDFa syntax. It is possible to augment schema.org markup with the additional granularity from this vocabulary, but as of today, the resulting code does not validate with Google tools.
